Lt. Col. Curtis D. Green, U.S. Army, retired, age 74 and a resident of Saucier, died on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Green was a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast and was a member of the First United Methodist Curch in Gulfport. He retired from the United States Army on October 30, 1973, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He started his military career with the first organized unit of the Green Berets and later attended flight school and completed his military career as a pilot.
Mr. Green is preceded in death by his parents, George & Dovie Green and his brother, George Green, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette Powell Green of Saucier; his daughters, Barbara (Tim) Gatewood of Memphis, TN, Lynn (David) Mahaffey of Ellisville, and Susan (Tony) vanGinneken of Seattle, WA; his brother, Dwight Green of Laurel; his sister, Latrice Hathorn of Laurel; his grandchildren, Don Haley, Patrick Green, Heather Chandler, Jacob Harshbarger, and Matthew vanGinneken; and his great grandchildren, Jackson Chandler, McKenzie Haley, and Joshua Haley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 6-8pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. A guestbook may be viewed and signed at www.riemannfamily.com.
