Curtis Eaton, age 84 and a resident of Gulfport, MS, died on Thursday, February 2, 2012, in Gulfport.
Mr. Eaton had been a resident of Gulfport since 2005 and was a member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church in Gulfport. He was a combat veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for 34 years. He was an avid bowler, loved life, and was father and grandfather to many.
Mr. Eaton was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Myrtle Eaton; his daughter, Cynthia Gail Eaton; his brother, Horace Eaton and his sisters, Myrtle Thomas, Faye Liesmann, and Eva Cowden.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Margie Eaton; his daughters, Debra Sue Eaton and Diana Lynn (Gary) Butterfield; his grandchildren, Rebecca Butterfield (Jonathan) Ritchey, Micah (Ashleigh) Butterfield, and Joseph Butterfield; six great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012, at 9:45am at Bel-Aire Baptist Church, where friends may visit beginning at 9:00am until the service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Canon Hospice, 1520 Broad Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.
