Crystal King Hungerford, age 44, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007 surrounded by her loving family in Gulfport.
Crystal King Hungerford was born in Biloxi, MS on March 4, 1963, the daughter of Diane Fountain King and Dr. Charles E. King. She was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Crysatl was raised in Biloxi, where she graduated in the Class of 1981 from Biloxi High School and was a Cheerleader. After high school, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi and Meridian Junior College, earning a degree in Dental Hygiene. Throughout High School and College, Crystal made many friends that remained close to her until her passing. They all will tell you that she was one of the nicest, most sincere persons they have ever met.
After college, she began her career practicing Hygiene with her father, Dr. Charles King, where they worked together for over 20 years. They truly had a special relationship, at work and as father and daughter. Crystal always had time for her patients and took every effort to make their smiles and days bright. She enjoyed the friendship's she made with her patients and genuinely cared for them.
Crystal was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she helped teach Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a part of the Krewe of Athena and Krewe of Harrah. She enjoyed socializing and never took life for granted, always making the best of any situation.
As much as Crystal loved her job and friends, her greatest joy in life was her family. Crystal and her Mother, Diane, shared an amazing bond that you had to see to believe. They were not just mother and daughter, they really were best friends. She was also extremely close with all her siblings. In 1997, she married her soul mate Edward Hungerford of D'Iberville and in 2000 they had a son named Anthony Hungerford. Crystal was a great mother and wife, always putting her family first. Anthony was her heart and soul and the joy her son brought her was indescribable.
Words cannot express the feeling of loss for losing someone so young. She was a beautiful woman, physically, but even more so, on the inside. Her heart was enormous, and it showed with her love of life, kindness to others, compassion and by all the lives of people she impacted. All will agree, Crystal was one of a kind. She will be missed immensely, but we know that she will be in a better place. We will carry her in our hearts and minds, until we meet again.
Crystal was preceded in death by her Father, Dr. Charles E. King, Grandmothers, Viola Jones and Lettie King, Grandfathers, Frank Fountain and Dana King, a half brother Charlie King, Sister-in-law Jolene Rubensak and niece Hanna Woodword and Uncle Albert T. Rice.
