Colleen Witt

God’s cotton-picking daughter, Colleen Phillips Witt, entered heaven’s gate on February 22, 2022, at the age of 94.

Born to Ollie T. and Amanda Praytor Phillips on October 28, 1927, in the old farmhouse in Jones County (Moselle), MS; born again March 1956 on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast in Gulfport.

Early years were spent in Taylorsville and McComb and in Gulfport when the family moved here in 1943.

Colleen was employed at Gulf Park College, Keesler AFB and Gulfport/Biloxi Veterans Administration Center where she served as President of the VA Secretary’s Club.  She taught Sunday School for many years and was privileged to go on a mission trip to Samara, Russia in 1993.

Colleen was born with a tender heart and had great love for all God’s creatures, especially her feline fur babies!

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Witt, her parents, Ollie T. and Amanda M. Praytor Phillips; her brothers, Willie “Bill” Phillips, and Robert L. "Bob" Phillips.  She is survived by her sister Kathleen Phillips McCann, her sons John (Buster) Franco and Kenny Franco.

A special thanks to Greg Sullivan at connected Hearts Assisted Living and Teresa, Candie and the ladies that work there.  Thanks also to Sarah with St. Joseph Hospice for her care of Colleen during this last month.

Visitation Monday, February 28, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, from 10:00am until funeral at 11:00am.  A burial will take place immediately following at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Gulfport.
