CMC Thomas W. Johnston, U.S. Navy Seabee, Ret., age 76, of Long Beach, passed away on May 19, 2022.
He was a native of Brooklyn, New York and attended Hicksville High School. He retired after 23 years as a Seabee with the U.S. Navy. He also retired from Harrison County Sheriff Department as a deputy and was a volunteer at Cuevas Fire Department.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, James Johnston and Marjorie Johnston.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frieda Johnston; his children, Dawn Dawson (Harry), Amber Hood (Gary), and April Hayes (David); his brother, James Johnston; his grandchildren, Aaron Dawson, Gary C. Hood, III, Austin Ladner, Riley Ladner, James Hood, and Gracie Hayes; and Donna Mallette, whom he loved like a daughter.
Thomas received a Sea Service Ribbon with Star, National Defense Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a faithful member of Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. He was an antique car enthusiast, mechanic, and loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 1:30 pm - 3 pm at Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle, 6146 Beatline Road, Long Beach, MS 39560. The funeral service will be at 3 pm in the church. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 2:30 pm in Biloxi National Cemetery.
