CM1 Paul M. Solmon, U.S. Navy, Retired Seabee, age 78, of Gulfport died on Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Biloxi.
Paul was born November 28, 1940 in Union City, Tenn., and lived on the Gulf Coast for 41 years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Merrell & Evelyn Solmon; his sister, Novie Cochran all from Troy, TN; his daughter, Paula Eastland of Picayune; and a great-grandson, Braxton Lance Eastland of Pearl River, MS.
Paul leaves his wife of 56 years, Brenda Solmon; his son, Steve Solmon and his wife, Tammy, all of Saucier; his grandsons, Kyle and Cordell Eastland of Picayune and Dakota Solmon of Saucier; his granddaughters Kelly  & Kala Jones of Gulfport; his brother, Lewis Solmon and his wife, Nancy of Troy, TN; and his nieces and nephews.
Paul was a member of Pass Road Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and worked the food pantry and MT-25.
Paul became a Gideon in the 1990's, serving in the Gulfport camp.
He spent 20 years in the Seabee's and did two tours to Vietnam. He retired in January 1982. He worked several jobs after retirement, but his last job was with Goodwill Industries of South MS, where he worked for 13 years.
He taught in the Adult Night Classes at Gulfport High in Automotive Transmissions and Powder Puff Mechanics.
Paul never met a stranger, he knew everyone. He had a big heart. He loved Jesus and loved to pray.
He spent the last 6 years at the Living Center in the Biloxi VA, where the staff on the Rio Grande Unit are all special Angels sent from God. .

On Friday, August 9th, a Funeral Procession will leave at 10:15 a.m. from RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. The Graveside Service will follow at 11 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m., Friday at Peace Baptist Church, 15383 John Clark Road, Gulfport.
