Clifford McDowell Jr.

Clifford “Maxie” McDowell Jr., 86 of Gulfport, MS and formerly of Baton Rouge, LA passed away at his residence on January 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and family.  He was born on July 8, 1937 in Phenix City, AL to the late U.C. & Lois McDowell.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Durwood Stitt, Tyre McDowell, and James Stitt; grandchildren, Devon & Dustin McDowell.

Cliff was an ordained Minister, with Good Shepherd Ministry.  He was a member of Lighthouse Full Gospel Fellowship.  Cliff was a devoted Christian who loved serving the Lord and preaching the Gospel.  He even played the keyboard and played many gospel songs.

Cliff grew up mostly in LaGrange, GA and graduated from Richmond Military Academy in Augusta, GA.  After Graduation he started working in 1964 for Burger King.  This lead him on a whirlwind career of being the Vice President of Burger King.  He with his team operated several Burger Kings around the country.  Cliff had a very rewarding career and loved his restaurants and people who worked for him.

Cliff moved to the Gulf Coast where he fell in love with going fishing and boating.  He loved spending time in his garden and being in the outdoors.  He was a loving and devoted family man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Ramona McDowell; children, Ulie McDowell III, Darren (Clarisbel) McDowell, and Lisa Ann McDowell; grandchildren, Joshua (Fran) McDowell, Victoria (Shawn) Richmond, Matthew (Sarah) Richmond, William Richmond (Amber), and Andy McDowell; great grandchildren, Elianna McDowell, Abbigail McDowell, Eliel McDowell, Charlotte Aymond, and Harper Richmond.  Cliff also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, church family, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home- Gulfport Chapel.  Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home Gulfport Chapel.   Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm Eastern Time on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Meadoway Gardens Cemetery (3293 Hamilton Road) in LaGrange, GA.
