Cleveland """"Bud"""" Garcia, age 61, of Gulfport, MS, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a nine year struggle with cancer. The cancer that destroyed his body will never destroy the memory of his selfless spirit etched in the hearts of family and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Aubuchon and Meno Garcia; his beloved son, Thomas Garcia; and his loving dog, Shiloh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Linda Garcia; his dad, Richard Aubuchon, of Dittmer, MS; mother-in-law, Frankie McManus, of Long Beach; father-in-law, Thomas McManus and wife, Olen, of Long Beach; two daughters, Teri Elliott and her husband, Brett, of Wellsville, OH; and Crystal Skrmetta and her husband, Ken, of Long Beach; four granddaughters, Jessica Craver and her husband, Chris; Janine Graves; Kaitlynn Snow; and Megan Garcia; four grandsons, Kadin Snow, Thomas Garcia, Eric Elliott, and Timothy Skrmetta; one great-grandson, Conner Wilhite; one sister, Mary Jane Fry; one brother, Bobby Gradle; brother-in-law, Gil McManus; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends, to include Francis Stroud, and his church family.
Bud was a native of St. Louis, MO, born on September 15, 1946, and graduated in 1966 from Ritenour High School in St. Louis, where he joined the
U. S. Air Force. During his time in the service, Bud graduated from Texas Lutheran College with the class of 1979. A Vietnam veteran, Bud retired after 23 years in the Air Force. He continued to work at E. I. Dupont. Bud enjoyed spending his time with all of his grandchildren
Bud will lovingly be remembered by his fiesty spirit, his love, kindness, and unselfish ways, and his beef jerky.
He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. There will be a Celebration of Life service held at Christ United Methodist Church, 6126 Beatline Road, Long Beach, MS 39560, on Sunday, March 30, 2008, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
