Claude Thornhill, Jr.

Claude Hollis Thornhill, Jr. age 42 a native of Brookhaven, MS and resident of Gulfport, MS passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gilda Faye Thornhill; his father, Claude Hollis Thornhill, Sr.; his brothers, Jesse Waldrop, David Waldrop, Joseph Waldrop; and his beloved dog, Daisie.

Claude is survived by his siblings, Jonas Thornhill (life partner, Cody Shafer), Jeffrey Waldrop (Beth), Edward Thornhill (Jennifer), Judith Griffin (Michael), Martha Lea (Charles), Laura Hitchner (Kevin), and Abye Moore (Martin); a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

He graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1995 and later went on to receive his Associates Degree in Applied Science.  Claude was a faithful employee for nearly two decades at The Beau Rivage Resort Casino in Biloxi, MS where he formed a multitude of close relationships with his fellow co-workers and guests he served.

Claude enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, repurposing furniture, creating floral arrangements, cooking, baking and watching his t.v. shows while cuddling his precious Shih Tzu, Daisie.

Claude loved to gift his talents and creations by sharing them with many of his friends and family.  He loved to travel. He and his brother Jonas went on many amazing adventures and trips together.  Claude was not only a hero in death, but was also a hero in life.  He selflessly provided love and care to his best friend, his brother, Jonas during Jonas’ ongoing struggle with leukemia.  Claude never hesitated to help anyone in need, which was always Claude’s calling in life.

Claude’s legacy of love, kindness, and friendship will live on forever in the hearts of many.

A visitation for friends and family to celebrate Claude’s life, will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., at Washington Ave. in West Jackson County.  Share memories, photos and condolences at www.riemannfamily.com
