Mrs. Clara May Johnson Streiff Collins, age 91, former resident of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Franklinton, LA.
Mrs. Collins was born in Tylertown to Clarence and Alma Alford Johnson. When she lived on the Coast, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Cowan Road Baptist Church. She also volunteered her time at the VA Center. She worked in food service at the Friendship House, the Log Cabin, and at the Blow Fly Inn. Her hobbies included gardening, which also turned into a second income.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie Pierce, second husband, Cuthbert Streiff, and third husband, John Collins; her parents; her brothers, Luther and Hilton Johnson, and Xcel Sawyer; and her twin sisters, Avis Wilson, and Eerie Johnson.
She is survived by a sister, Johnnie Lou Brumfield of Foxworth, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 2 p.m. Friends may visit two hours prior to services. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
