Christopher Ellis Slater, age 36 of Gulfport, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl Slater and Earl and Virginia Saucier; and his daughter, Jenna Slater.
Christopher is survived by his loving wife of two years, Amy Slater; his children, Julian (Slater) Richard, Madison Hauge, Joseph (Slater) Richard and Brennan Hauge; his parents, Bob and Patty Slater; his siblings, Matthew Slater, Cody (Brandi) Slater and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A native of Gulfport, Chris grew up very involved with sports. He attended Gulfport High School where he helped win the State Championship in Soccer. Upon graduating in 2002, Chris attended MGCCC - Perkinston Campus on a soccer scholarship. After college, Chris worked as a car salesman for 10 years and started the internet department at Mossy Motors of Picayune. He was very charismatic, kind, and loved his family deeply. He loved being outside and near or on the water. Chris was an active member at Michael Memorial Baptist Church. He was an active advocate for Home of Grace and the Joseph Home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Michael Memorial Baptist Church, 15053 John Clark Road, Gulfport, MS. Visitation will begin in the sanctuary at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
