Christine Skinner

Molly Christine Ladner Skinner, 93 of Gulfport passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025 at Driftwood Nursing Facility. She was born on July 18, 1931 in Lumberton, MS to the late Oscar Ladner & Irene Baker Ladner. Christine is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy Skinner; brothers, Joseph Glenn Ladner, and Oscar B. Ladner.

Christine grew up in rural Pearl River near Poplarville. She attended Poplarville Elementary School, and graduated from Poplarville High School. Christine then went on to Pearl River Junior College, and then transferred to University of Southern Mississippi where she earned 4 Masters Degrees in Education.

Ms. Skinner was known to her students and teachers, worked for schools in Alabama and Louisiana. Ms. Skinner then settled here on the Gulf Coast where she worked for the Harrison County School System. She later became Principal of Belaire Elementary School. Ms Skinner loved her students and faculty, and the students and faculty loved her back.

Besides working, Christine was a member of the P.E.O Chapter H Gulfport who helped women pursue college. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport where she was a faithful member of the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. Christine also attended and was a member of the Woodglen Garden Club. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, and friend to so many. Her spirit lives on in all of us, and the many children and now adults that she taught for so many years.

Christine is survived by her niece, Rhonda (Bruce) Calcote; special lifelong friends, June Jefferson, and Chris Roberts. Christine also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of extended family, church family, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport (11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport). Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Felix Ladner Cemetery in Lumberton, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the, Scrap Iron Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Gulfport.
