Christenia Peterson

Christenia Ann Peterson, age 92, of Gulfport, passed away at her home on July 20, 2021, with her family at her side.

Christenia was born on January 27, 1929, in Gulfport, MS to Christof and Lydia Martin. She was a longtime member of St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents, Christof and Lydia; her husband, William Peterson; her siblings, D.J. Martin, Allois Martin, Darfas Martin, Vibrella Saucier, Afretta Ladner, and Bernesi Arcement; and her daughter in law, Gloria Peterson.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Rhonda (Richard) Faul, Bridgett (Ted) Duke, and Tammy (Michael) Mossey; her 6 sons, William Peterson, Casey Peterson, Shelton Peterson, Allen Peterson, Doyle (Gaynel) Peterson, Jerry Peterson; her adopted son, Wade (Ruth) Bishop; and one sister, Myrdesia Ladner; her 9 grandchildren; her 11 great grandchildren; and her 2 adopted grandchildren, Clay and Brister.
Christenia was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dedeaux for family and friends on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Standard Sandhill Cemetery.

Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Kare in Home Health Care for helping to care for Christenia in her final days.
