Chris Vaurigaud

Christopher Raymond “Chris” Vaurigaud, age 78, of Long Beach, passed away on January 11, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Leah Vaurigaud; 3 brothers, Edward Vaurigaud, Jr, Patrick Vaurigaud, and Michael Vaurigaud; and 4 sisters, Ann Schumach, Beverly LeJeune, Susie Prestenbach, and Roberta “TC” Skyles.

Mr. Vaurigaud is survived by his children, Christine “Beth” Catalanotto, James “Bubba” Vaurigaud, and Shelly Johnson; a brother, Joe Vaurigaud; his grandchildren, Brandi Singletary, Bradley Banks, Ericka Rasmussen, Ashley Johnson, and Amie Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Logan Garivey, Chloe Sevin, Alyssa Singletary, Kensley Banks, Harper Banks, Michael A. Banks and Bennet Rasmussen; and many other step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was a native of New Orleans and was a long time resident of Long Beach.  He worked as a plumber for many years before retirement.

Mr. Vaurigaud was a great dad, paw paw, and role model and he always put everyone else’s needs before his own.  He loved to make sure his grandkids had unique toys that you could not buy from a toy store.  He built an electric swing, playhouses, carousel, zip lines, and a stage.  He also had a petting zoo and painted a truck and turned it into a float for his grandkids to ride in the Christmas parade.   One of his greatest joys was to see the excitement on his grandkids faces with all of his creations.

The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Woodland Village for their care of Mr. Vaurigaud.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10 - 11 am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.  A prayer service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
