Chris Bassil, age 76, a resident of Picayune and a lifelong resident of New Orleans, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in Magee.
Mr. Bassil is preceded in death by his parents, Peter & Ourania Bassil and his brothers, Nick & Johnny Bassil.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda Bassil; his children, Steve Vassiliadis, Greg Bassil, Peter Bassil, Cindy Esteves, Doug Odendahl, Allen Dufrene, and John Dufrene, Jr.; his sisters, Vangie Malachias and Mary Doussa; 23 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his good spaghetti eating pal, Bill.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 1:00pm at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Safe Harbor Senior Care and the Guardian Angels Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 255 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS 39532, and/or the Holy Trinity Cathedral, 1200 Robert E. Lee Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70122.
