Chief MSgt. Richard C. Strasser, USAF, Ret., age 88, of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Strasser served his country in the United States Army during WWII, and then retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant after 20 years. He received his Bachelors degree in Physical Education and Masters degree in Counseling at the University of Illinois, and completed Doctorate studies at the University of Illinois.
Mr. Strasser was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed swimming, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Strasser; his sister Rita Campbell; and his brother Robert Strasser.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth """"Betty"""" Strasser, of Gulfport; children, David Strasser, of Albuquerque, NM; and Ann Carosella, of Boston, MA; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 8:45 AM, with visitation starting at 8:15 AM, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
