Chief Robert Harold Farris, age 82, of Long Beach, formerly of Brandon, passed away on May 13, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.P. and Lewell Farris, and a sister, Nelda Farris Huff.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lois G. Farris, his children, Robert H. Farris, Jr., Leigh Ann (Rick) Covington, and Linda (John) Morganti, a brother, Gerald Farris, 7 grandchildren, Anthony (Meredith) Covington, Leslie Covington (Gary) Lee, Jennifer Covington, Rob (Katie) Covington, Lauren Farris, Michael Morganti, and Matthew Morganti, 4 great-grandchildren, Braden Lee, Connor Lee, Mia Covington, and Wade Covington, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Farris served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and after returning home, he was a volunteer fireman in Southaven, MS. He later worked for the Reservoir Fire Department in Brandon, MS and retired as the Chief in 1996. After moving to the coast, he and his wife enjoyed the serenity of the coastal life.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 17, 2015, from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM at the Reservoir Community Center, 2230 Spillway Road, Brandon. A memorial service will be at 5:30 in the community center.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Reservoir Fire Department, 2230 Spillway Road, Brandon, MS 39407, Children's Hospital of Alabama, 1600 7th Ave. S, Birmingham, AL 35233, or The Little Light House, 620 Briarwood Drive, Jackson, MS 39211.
