Chester D. Byers. age 85, a resident of Long Beach, passed away on August 28, 2008 in Gulfport.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Jean M. Byers, and his parents, Ernest Byers and Mary L. Byers.
Mr. Byers is survived by his children, Michael D. Byers and his wife, Jimmie Sue, of Tallahassee, FL, Karen B. Thigpen of Long Beach, and Anne DiLorenzo and her husband, Tony, of Long Beach; a brother, Carl Byers, and his wife, Florence; two sisters, Virginia Jenkins and Catherine Taylor and her husband, John, all of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a charter member of the Gulf Coast Orchid Society, and a member of the Southern Star Lodge, Post 500, Long Beach.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach where friends may call from Noon until service time. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
