Cheryl Ann Childs passed away in her home at the age of 61, on the 21st of May 2022.
Cheryl was predeceased by her mother, Bobby Jean McGilvary.
Cheryl is survived by her father, Darrell Ross Lemon (Mary V. Lemon); her daughter, Andie Jean Childs; her loving husband, James "Mark" Childs; his two sons, Anthony Wayne (Tony) Childs, and James Frederick (Freddie) Childs; her grandson, James. R Childs; her sister, Diane Lemon Catchot (Harold S. Catchot); Diane’s three children, Charlie Ross Parker-McDevitt, Darrell Isham Parker, and Hannah Diane Parker; and Charlie’s son, Jesse David McDevitt
Cheryl and Mark were married in Gulfport Mississippi on February 14th,1985, and were together for 37 years. Cheryl was born in Greenville, Mississippi in 1960. She graduated from Biloxi High School in 1978.
Cheryl worked at her late stepfather's used car lot, then as a blackjack dealer at the Grand Casino, ultimately settling into the journey of being "Moma Cheryl". Cheryl was “Moma” to not only her own, but to anybody who needed a helping hand including anything with four legs.
She always had a passion and a special bond with animals and loved to care for them as her own. For years, Moma Cheryl’s love, laughter, and cooking reached anyone who needed it. With an infectious laugh one could never forget, she could light up a room brighter than anyone else.
A celebration of her life will be held at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Three Rivers Road in Gulfport Mississippi on May 26th, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family encourages you to wear bright colors to help cherish Cheryl’s legacy.
