Charlynn Gabel Massey

Charlynn Gabel Massey, a long-time resident of Biloxi, passed away in McComb MS, on June 14, 2024. She was 90 years old.

Charlynn was born in Yorkville TN, the youngest of 9 children of William Benson Gabel and Annie Maude Gabel. She met her late husband, Carman Massey, in Memphis. They moved to Biloxi to start the Massey Music Academy and Music Stores in Biloxi and Gulfport. After their sell, Charlynn worked at the State Employment Service until her retirement in 1996.

Charlynn was preceded in death by all her siblings and daughter, Nancy Roanna Massey. She is survived by son Benson Talmage Massey, MD; daughters, Sara Massey, Lara Lynn Massey, Suzie Rials; grandchildren Justin Talmage Massey, MD, PhD, Conner Joseph Massey, MD, Ellen Elizabeth (Massey) Schmitt, MD, Anna Herrera, Stephen Herrera, Aaron Rials, Thomas Rials; and great-grandchildren, Hazel Mae Schmitt and Jacob Henry Schmitt.

Charlynn was a deeply devoted mother and loving friend, an avid reader, quilter, and tennis fan. She enjoyed giving loved ones quilts she especially made for them (and there were many!). She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family will be holding a memorial service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi.  She is interred at The Biloxi Mausoleum Cemetery.
