Retired Master Sergeant Charlie Murphy, age 81 of Biloxi, has gone to join his Heavenly Father and his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy.
Known to all as ""Pops"", ""Grandpa"", or ""Dad"", he always kept a smile on his face and welcomed anyone with a hug and a kiss. He retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country for twenty-two years. After his service in the military, he also retired from the Biloxi VA. He loved to fish with his friends, and was the greatest inspiration to all of his family.
He will be especially remembered by his three children; Laura (Melvin) Johnson, Charlie Murphy, and Joyce (Michael) Spalding; his grandchildren; Tommy (Angela) Brunow, Bobby (Lillian) Johnson; Camille and Charlsie Murphy; and his great grandchildren, Riley and Ashlyn Brunow, as well as his many siblings, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6-7:30 p.m., with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, for a graveside service with full military honors at Biloxi National Cemetery.
