Charlie Monroe Johnson

Charlie Monroe Johnson, age 74 passed away on August 17, 2024 He was a cherished member of his community and will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic and gentle spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents Murphy Elijah Johnson and Irene Virgie Raymond Johnson; siblings, Lula Mae Garner, Virgie Nancy Jones, Calvin M. Johnson; and spouse, Eunice Kaye Garner Johnson.

Charlie is survived by his spouse of 14 years, Gloria Nell Busby Johnson; children, Cory Murphy Johnson and Timothy Mitchell Johnson; sister, Margaret Jones; grandchildren, Michelle Kaye Johnson, Kendalynn Nicole Johnson, Caden Mitchell Johnson, Coda James Johnson, and Chase Milo Johnson; sister in law, Wanda Carmack (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born with an adventurous heart, Charlie found his calling on the open roads, navigating the highways and byways as he delivered goods across the country. He was a dedicated over the road truck driver with Whites Crossing Trucking. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his love for music. A man of many talents, he took joy in playing the guitar, often filling the rooms he occupied with melodies that reflected his vibrant personality.

Charlie proudly served his country as an Army Vietnam Veteran, a role that shaped much of who he was. His bravery and sacrifices for his country etched deep respect among those who knew him. It is in the spirit of service that he not only drove trucks but also transported kindness and camaraderie to all he encountered along his journeys.

He was a hard worker who always took care of his family. When you think of a social butterfly, that was him; he never met a stranger.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2024 at Bond Cemetery, 26066 Airey Tower Road, Saucier, MS.
