Dr. Charles Wittmann Weston, a devoted husband, father of two, and accomplished research chemist died peacefully February 2, 2009. Charlie, as he was known by friends and family, will be remembered for his generous nature, infectious laugh, and boundless curiosity.
He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, but always considered Pass Christian, MS his home. Charlie received his bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1966 from Mississippi State University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1970 from Tulane University. Later, he earned a Masters in Environmental Studies in 1995 from Louisiana State University. As a research scientist and manager, he was instrumental in the development of twelve U.S. patents. He was a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the American Chemical Society's Division of Fertilizer and Soil Chemistry, 1985-1986.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Weston, and mother, Margaret """"Sis"""" Wittmann Weston.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Weston; son, Dr. Wil Weston, of San Diego, CA; daughter, Margaret (Weston) Piccoli, of Sassari, Italy; sisters, Cathy Griffin, of Destrehan, LA; Lola Heyer, of McHenry, MS; Lynn Stearn, of Ottawa, Canada; brother, James O. Weston, of McHenry, MS, and two grandchildren, Laura Jean and Erik Piccoli.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph's Hospice of Baton Rouge for their care.

RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES, Pass Christian (228 / 539-9800) is handling the services, which are scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2009 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church located at 526 East Second Street in Pass Christian, MS, and will be followed by the burial at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, MS.
