Mr. Charles E. ""Chod"" Westfall, age 97, of Gulfport, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011.
Mr. Westfall was born in Kokomo, IN to Charles and Lula Butler Westfall. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Memphis during WWII. After active duty, he worked for the State Department, Voice of America, and the Department of Defense. He was a former Mason, former member of the Rotary Club, and served as President of the Broadwater Country Club in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel ""Tyke"" Westfall; his parents; and his daughter, Elaine Westfall Coker Burfit.
He is survived by his son, Lyle ""Bruce"" Westfall of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Dustin Coker and Paige Coker; and a great grandson, Gage Coker.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011, at Biloxi National Cemetery, at 1:30 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.
