Charles “Ray” Walley Sr., age 68, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021.
Ray was born in Lucedale, MS to the late R.E. “Ed” Walley and Annie Rae Eubanks Walley. He was a retired Deputy Chief with Gulfport Fire Department where he worked for 30 years and retired. He was also a firefighter with Stennis for 15 years.
Ray loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was known by many names, husband, brother, friend but, the titles he loved the most were “Dad” and “Paw Paw”.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Roland Walley and baby boy Walley and also by his father-in-law, Curtis Buchanan.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joy; his children Ashlie Walley Huckabay (Johnny), Charles Ray “Charlie” Walley, Jr. (Faye) and Edward “Eddie” Walley; his grand children Casey Huckabay, Charles Ray “Chip” Walley, III, Lilly Huckabay, Blake Walley, Lyla Walley, and Eryn Walley; his brother, John Walley (Sue); sisters in law, Kathy Walley and Gay (Michael) Thompson; his mother in law, Diane Buchanan; his brother in law, Lee (Christy) Buchanan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2021, at Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, 12332 Cedar Lake Rd, Biloxi, MS, with a visitation to start at 10:00 am until the service.
