Charles C. """"Sonny"""" Stewart, age 76, of the Success community in Saucier, MS, passed away on March 24, 2009 at the Biloxi Veterans Hospital.
Sonny was born on June 29, 1932 in Water Valley, MS.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October, 1950; served during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in October, 1954. He was very proud to be of service to his country.
Sonny was very well known on the Coast by many people for his honesty and perfection in his work.
He was employed by John and Jake Mladinich for 23 years in maintenance of the White Pillars, Sea and Sirloin, LaChateau Apts, Cabana Beach Motel, and Fiesta Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolphus and Alice Jewel Stewart, of Water Valley and four sisters, Alene McNeil, Joyce Allen, Faye Tatum, and Evelyn Tatum.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley R. Stewart; his son, Charles D. Stewart of Saucier; his granddaughter, Jessica Leigh King, and her husband, Scott; his great granddaughter, Delaney Kate King; and his great grandson, Sawyer Miles King, all of Gulfport; two sisters, Carolyn Vaughn, and her husband, Billy, of Southhaven, MS and Jeanelle (Nell) Bell of Gulfport; and numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Sonny was a loving husband, father, and PawPaw. His leaving has left a void that can never be filled.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, where family and friends may visit from Noon until service time. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery.
