Charles Patrick “Charlie” Pomes, 85, of Diamondhead, MS formerly of Terrytown, LA for 30 years.
He was born on March 17, 1938 in New Orleans to Maurice Sr. and Velma Pomes. Charlie passed away peacefully on July 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Elaine LeBas, Dr. Maurice Pomes Jr., Sr. Velma Rose Pomes MMS, and Frank Pomes.
Charlie graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1956 and then attended Louisiana State University. Charlie worked for First Westinghouse Elevator Corporation which later changed to Schindler Corporation, where he was a member and officer of International Union of Elevator Constructors. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Terrytown, LA, where he was a member of Dad’s Club. In his spare time Charlie, enjoyed spending time fishing, playing softball and golf. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan for many years.
Charlie then retired to Diamondhead to where he joined Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he was member of the Men’s Club.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Patricia “Pat” after 61 years of marriage; sons, Stephen Pomes, and Scott (Michelle) Pomes; grandchildren, Katie Pomes, and Patrick Pomes. Charlie also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, MS. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated on August 12, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on August 19, 2023 in St. Louis # 3 Cemetery in New Orleans.
