Tech Sgt Charles Leon Nilges, Sr, U.S. Air Force, Ret., age 74, of Gulfport, passed away on June 19, 2008 in Woolmarket.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine John (Tony) Nilges and Velma Nilges, and a step daughter, Danielle Wright.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Nilges; his children, Charles Nilges, Jr and his wife, Sharon, of Woolmarket, Brenda Spence and her husband, Ron, of Frostproof, FL, Joseph Nilges of Gulfport, Teresa Hopper and her husband, Scott, of Cordova, TN, Robert Nilges and his wife, Gloria, of Lucedale, and Betty Nilges, Mary Foster and her husband, Mike, and David Nilges, all of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Spence, Megan, Justin, and Whitney Hopper, Ann and Amy Messer, Cody Foster, Christopher and Corey Nilges, and Jeffery; and his sisters, Joan Goddard of Garnett, KS and Jeanne Brewer of Yuma, AZ.
A native of Garnett, KS, Charles retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty years of service. He was a life member of VFW Post 2434 and the American Legion Post 119 and a member of the Krewe of Gemini. He spent countless hours volunteering his time.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 4:00 PM where friends may visit from 3:00 PM until service time at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi.
