Charles Ray McClendon, age 87, of Gulfport, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019.
He was a graduate of Gulfport High School and Perkinston Junior College. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Gulfport. He worked alongside his father, J. C. McClendon Construction Co. and retired from the city of Gulfport Building Department in 1996. Charlie was an expert deep-sea fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Mary McClendon; his brother, Carlyce; his beloved daughter, Linda Marie; and his grandson Tom McClendon.
He is survived by Janice Driscoll of Gulfport; his son, David (Elaine) McClendon of Oceanside, CA; his daughter, Patricia (Butch) Woodley of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons, Nicholas Woodley and Shane McClendon; two nephews, Charlie and Jim McClendon; a niece, Sherry Lee; and several cousins.
Graveside funeral services will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport, August 20, 2019, at 10:00am. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport is serving the family. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or delivered directly to the cemetery.
