Charles Long

Charles Chester Long, was born on March 31, 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Orange Grove/Gulfport, and died in a work related accident at Bayou Concrete on June 16, 2010.
Charles was a Vietnam Veteran and served his tour of duty with the United States Army. He worked for Gulf Concrete and stayed with the company when their name changed to Bayou Concrete. He had been with them for some 20 years and had an excellent work record. He received a variety of awards and recognitions from the company during his term of employment.
Charles had a love of trains, both real and models, and spent most of his free time working with his many train layouts that he had designed and set up in a shed next to his home. He had planed to retire within the next two years and spend more time enlarging his train layouts. Charles was a very quiet person, but always ready, willing and able to help anyone when help was needed, regardless of the task.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josie Marie West and his younger brother Patrick.
He is survived by his daughter, Renee and her husband Kevin; his son, Chuck and his wife Jennifer; his older brother, Edgar and his wife Eleanor of Florence; his older sister, Hester Ann Spivacke and her husband Robert of Ocean Springs; and his younger sister, Joretha Francway and her husband Cliff of Raymond; his grandchildren, Crystal and her husband Chris, Anthony and Nichole, and Keri; and 7 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010; at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
