Charles Joseph Hemard died at his home on December 3, 2010 in Lumberton, Mississippi.
Mr. Hemard, 69, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and lived in south Mississippi for the past 33 years including 26 years in Hattiesburg and more recently retired in Lumberton, MS for the past 8 years. He worked at Amerada Hess refinery in Purvis and later in sales of safety equipment.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Blanchard Hemard, of Lumberton , Mississippi; a son, Charles Joseph ""Chuck"" Hemard of Columbus, Georgia; and a daughter, Jennifer Wallis and husband Todd Wallis of Saucier, Mississippi; and grandsons Brady Todd and Aaron Shane Wallis. He is also survived by sisters Karen Hemard of Denver, Colorado and Elizabeth Bohrer and husband Peter of River Ridge, Louisiana, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Wetzel Hemard Schmalz, and father Lionel Henry Hemard, Sr.; two half brothers, Lionel Henry Hemard, Jr. and Dexter Paul Hemard, and one half sister, Gloria Sloan. Visitation and services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Hattiesburg, MS on Monday, December 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Cross Road Cemetery in Wiggins, MS.
