Mr. Charles Carey Hadaway, Sr., affrectionately known as """"Papa C"""", age 80, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
Mr. Hadaway was born in Lanett, AL, where he graduated from high school. He then joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. He married his first wife, Aggie Wright as a young man out of high school. They moved to the coast in 1967, where he owned and operated Hadaway's Tire and Service in Gulfport. After retiring, he went to work for the Copa Casino, and later, Island View Casino in the transporation department. He loved his work and friends at the Island View. He enjoyed listening to the radio and watching westerns and sports, especially the Atlanta Braves.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Aggie Wright Hadaway; parents, A.D. and Mary Hadaway; brother, Henry Hadaway; daughter, Sally Bogolin; son-in-law, Timmy Dolan; grandson, Timothy Dolan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Hadaway of Gulfport; children, Jill Dolan of Gulfport, Drew Hadaway of Gulfport, and Chuck Hadaway of Palm Bay, FL; son-in-law, David Bogolin of Gulf Breeze, FL; step-children, Butch (Sue) Bassett of Waveland, Bobby (Becky) Winchester of Diamondhead, and Belinda McNew of Biloxi; grandchildren, Davey Bogolin, Danny Bogolin, Paige Conley, Karie Dolan, and Christopher Dolan, Andy Hadaway, and Tiffany Hadaway; step-grandchildren, Chelsea, Darren, and Sarah Simmons, Hayden and Hannah Winchester, """"Lil"""" Butch Bassett, and Brianna Bassett; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mady, and Colby Bogolin, Hunter Conley, Addison Hadaway, Brayden Merritt, and one expected baby girl, Kamryn Conley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, where friends may call from 5-8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Pass Christian, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
