Charles O. Glenn, CPO SWC1, US Navy, Seabees, Ret., age 77, of Long Beach, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Weathers Glenn and Bonnie Rae Anders Glenn; and his sister, Bobbie Dean Glenn.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Janice Ladner Glenn, of Gulfport; his children, Rita Derouen and her husband, Scott, of Long Beach, Charles J. Glenn and his wife, Jennifer, of Gulfport and Randy W. Glenn of Long Beach; his sister, Evelyn Glenn Holt of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren, Bronson, Jourdan, Natalie, Brandon, Blake, Summer, Wesley, Tommy, Joseph, Ramsi; one great grandchild, Jaelyn; his faithful companion, aÌâÅMr. EaÌâ (dog); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He retired from the US Navy, Seabees, after 22 years of service, having served in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in the Antartic and received the Antartic Medal. He was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal (Third, Fourth, and Fifth Award), National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Glenn retired as a civil service employee at the Gulfport Seabee Base, Enterprise Rent a Car, and Ingalls Ship Building where he worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
