Charles Clements

Charles Edward Clements "Chuck Edwards", age 49, a lifelong resident of Gulfport, MS, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
Chuck was well known by his professional name, Chuck Edwards, to Saints, Pelicans, and the Sea Wolves fans.  He worked in radio for almost 30 years on the Mississippi Coast and was the announcer for the Mississippi Sea Wolves from their beginnings in 1995.  In 1996, he was heard at one of those games by officials from the Saints organization and was invited to audition for the PA announcer job, which started a 22 year association beginning in 1997 with the Saints.  Ten years later, he was invited to do the same for the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans.  Chuck loved his fans, the sports, and the creative aspect of his radio job.  He also loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Voncille Hudson; his maternal great-grandmother, Florence Thomas; and his paternal grandparents, Vernon L. and Winnie Clements.
He is survived by his parents, Lewis G. and Patsy H. Clements; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM, on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS, with a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 PM until the service.  His urn will be laid to rest at a later date at Finley Cemetery, Gulfport.
