Charles Prentiss Cartee, age 63, of Gulfport, died on December 22, 2007 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis S. Cartee and Ruby Patrick Cartee.
Charles is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beth Pemberton Cartee; his children, Kelli Cartee Brent and her husband, Mitch, of Hattiesburg, MS, and Ashley Cartee Hagg and her husband, Mark, of Brandon, MS; three grandchildren, Jonathan Cartee Brent and Ansley Elizabeth Brent, both of Hattiesburg, and Eden Elizabeth Hagg of Brandon; a brother, Ellis J. Cartee and his wife, Jimmie; and two sisters, Louise Crawley of Wiggins, and Melba Fortenberry and her husband, Gary, of Idaho Falls, ID.
A native of Gulfport, Charles was a 1962 graduate of Gulfport High School where he was named Mr. Gulfport High School. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1966 with a bachelor's degree and played on the school's tennis team. He received a Master's Degree from Memphis State University in 1968 and his Ph D (Doctorate) from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1974. Charles retired after 35 years as a professor of real estate at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was the owner of Cartee Properties, Inc., a commercial real estate brokerage and appraisal firm. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulfport and an avid tennis player.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road Chapel, Gulfport, where friends may call from 1:30 PM until service time. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Roseland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg.
