Mr. Charles O. Beasley, age 72 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Thursday, March 29, 2007, in Hattiesburg.
Charles, or aÌâÅC.O.aÌâ, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport.
He retired from Mississippi Power Company after 37 years of service in Gulfport and Meridian with various engineering and economic development positions. He was
last employed at Southern Pine Electric Power Association in Taylorsville as Manager of Engineering Support Services.
He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Mississippi State University in 1960. He graduated from Sumrall High School and attended Pearl River Community College before attending MSU.
He was Past President, Mississippi Main Street Association, Past President, Meridian Jaycees, Past President, Meridian Civitan Club, member of Mississippi Economic Development Council and was an active member of various civic and business organizations in Gulfport and Meridian.
Mr. Beasley was also active in both the Gulfport Little Theatre and Meridian Little Theatre. He was a longtime member of Gulfport Yacht Club and Bayou Bluff Tennis Club in Gulfport, member of Great Southern Golf Club in Gulfport, Past President of Northwood Country Club in Meridian and a member of Les Cavalier on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Mr. Beasley is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin O. Beasley and his brother, Robert Oben Beasley.
Mr. Beasley is survived by his wife, Paula Wright Beasley of Gulfport; his children, Reja Klug and her husband, Russ of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Carla Drummond of Gulfport, Allison Beasley of Gulfport, and Charles E. Beasley and his wife, Audrey of Gulfport; his brothers, Ethridge Beasley and his wife, Aubrey of Hattiesburg, Johnny Beasley and his wife, Patsy of Sumrall, and Alvin Beasley and his wife, Barbara of Sumrall; sister-in-law, Billie Beasley of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Kerianne Klug, Ryan Klug, Charles E. Beasley, Jr., and Griffin E. Beasley; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church, where friends may visit with the family from 5-7 pm in the Community Life Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at 11:00am in the church sanctuary where friends may visit an hour prior. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Gulfport.
