Cecil Lee Rector Jr. Lovingly known as "C.L.", passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Born on February 10, 1951, in Pascagoula, MS, Cecil's life was filled with remarkable achievements and cherished moments with his family.
Cecil dedicated many years to his career as the Director of Contracts for Ingalls Shipbuilding. His exceptional skills and unwavering commitment were instrumental in the success of the company. His expertise and professionalism earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his career.
Education played a significant role in Cecil's life. Graduate of Ocean Springs High School, Class of 1969, where he played sports. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi before pursuing a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi. Cecil's thirst for knowledge and intellectual curiosity were evident throughout his academic journey.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Cecil had a vibrant and fulfilling personal life. He possessed an unyielding love for his family and found immense joy in being 'Bop Bop' to his beloved grandchildren. Spending quality time with them brought him immeasurable happiness.
Cecil had a multitude of interests that nourished his soul. Fishing allowed him to connect with nature and find solace by the water's edge. Walking, exercising, and playing golf kept him active and invigorated. Additionally, he generously contributed to the community by coaching youth sports, imparting valuable lessons to young athletes.
A devoted husband of 53 years to Sindi (nee McElroy) Rector, Cecil created a strong foundation built on love, trust, and mutual support. Their partnership was one defined by companionship and shared aspirations.
Cecil will forever be remembered by his children Jason (Ashley) Rector, Molly Rector and her significant other Robbie Carter. His grandchildren Jacob Rector, Wesley Rector, and Hatten O'Bryant, as well as Robbie's children Robert Carter, Camden Carter and Lily Carter, will cherish memories of their adoring 'Bop Bop'. Cecil's passing leaves an overwhelming void in their lives, but his legacy of love and guidance will endure.
He is also survived by his sister Sandy (Jerry) Johnson, as well as his brothers Robert (Lois) Rector and David Rector. Numerous nieces and nephews also mourn the loss of their dear uncle.
Cecil was predeceased by his father, Cecil Lee Rector Sr., and his mother, Malissa Elizabeth (nee Land) Rector.
Cecil Lee Rector Jr lived a life filled with purpose, love, and accomplishment. His dedication to his work, unwavering commitment to his family, and involvement in his community exemplify the values he held dear. As we bid farewell to a remarkable individual, let us celebrate with gratitude the impact he made on our lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Visitation in memory of Cecil will take place at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11872 Lemoyne Blvd, West Jackson County, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 12:00 PM until the time of services at 2:00 PM with Rev. Trey Skaggs officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Jackson County Humane Society will be appreciated.
