Cecil S. Cospelich, age 86, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in Long Beach.
Mr. Cospelich was a native and lifelong resident of the coast had was retired from the Sheetmetal Workers Local #11, New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was a member of the Choctaw Tribe Association, and was a founder of Dixie Youth Baseball in Long Beach.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Scott Cospelich; parents, F.F. and Alphonsene Cospelich; 3 brothers: Richard, Archie, and Lou Cospelich, and 2 sisters: Ildred Price and Gloria Clark.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Cospelich; 4 children: Cecelia Blakeslee, Karan (David) Waltman, Jan (Bobby) Smith, and Frank (Sally) Cospelich; 3 sisters: Glyn Steele, Marlee Broome, and Eva Hagansee; and 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Blakeslee, Chase Waltman, Andrew Cospelich, Joseph Smith, and Donald Smith.
A graveside service will be 10:30am Friday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
