Catherine Octavia Pecoul Davis, age 84, passed away in Gulfport, Mississippi, on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Mrs. Davis was born on March 26, 1940, and grew up in the town of her birth, Mississippi City (now part of Gulfport). She was baptized and married at the original St. James Catholic Church on Tegarden Road in Mississippi City. Cathy attended Mississippi City School (now Lynn Meadows Discovery Center) and was a 1958 graduate of the original Gulfport High School. She also attended Mississippi Southern College (now University of Southern Mississippi).
Cathy devoted her life to loving and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, extraordinary cook, and had a gift for showing love and kindness to others. She had a gentle spirit and a heart to serve, and she honored God in every aspect of her life.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand Anthony Pecoul and Eldora Ada Grant Pecoul; three brothers, Monroe Cliburn, Ferdinand Anthony Pecoul II, and Louis Joseph “JoJo” Pecoul; and three sisters, Lucy Elise Pecoul Dessommes, Betty Mae Pecoul Taylor, and Martha Marie Pecoul Sinopoli. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Linda Salter Pecoul and Ruth Ann Gauthe Pecoul Black.
Cathy was the beloved wife of Aubrey Wayne Davis for 65 years and a devoted mother to Timothy Wayne Davis, Sally Ann Davis (Wayne) O’Neal, and Ronald Paul Davis.
“Nana” blessed the lives of her seven grandchildren: Levi (Vanessa) and Christian Davis; Catherine (John) Arthur and Ryan (Kimball) Wilson; Ronnie Jr. (Bryana) and Jesse Davis; and Wayne (Brittney) O’Neal II, as well as great-grandchildren William and Alexander; Kasen and Kylie; and Harlan and Lovette. In addition, “Aunt Cat” was loved by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
She will always be remembered as a kind, patient, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, where friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
