Catherine """"Kate"""" Mae Briggs, age 76, of Cadillac Michigan, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Biloxi, Mississippi
Ms. Briggs retired as a teacher after 30 years at Cadillac Michigan Junior High School. She was a sponsor for the cheerleading and yearbook staff, Teacher of the Year, and enjoyed stitching, reading, traveling, genealogy, and volunteering. For the past 15 years, Ms Briggs and Shirley Davis have spent the winters on the MS Gulf Coast and volunteered countless hours at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, American Red Cross and Gulfport Police Department.
She was a member of the Michigan Education Association, National Education Association, Mayflower Society, and Stitches Guild.
She is survived by her sisters, Jackie Ferney of Lake Dallas, TX, Virginia Horton of Grand Rapids, MI; and lifelong friend, Shirley Davis of Cadillac, Michigan and Biloxi, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
