Carrie L. Hopper-Rau, Age 77, passed away surrounded by her loving children into the arms of Jesus and gone to her Heavenly Father's home on 6/12/2021.
She is preceded in death by her 1st husband of 35 years, Joe (Sonny) T. Hopper, Jr; her 2nd husband of 5 years, Bernard (Bernie) Rau; her parents, Dewitt and Mamie Louis Cook; her grandmother, Nancy Cook; her brothers, Billy Cook and Kenny Cook; her twin sister, Mary Lou Berhow; and her sister-in-law, Mary H. Cherry.
She leaves behind Matt Yapit, her long and loving companion, to cherish her in loving memories with her children, Joseph (Joey) T. Hopper, III (Melissa); Rosella (Rosey) Brosh (Robbie); Lori L. McGill (Russell); and William (Jason) Hopper (Shannon).
She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Tommy Hopper, Tiffany Brosh, Sam Hopper, Katie Hopper, Carrie McGill (Ables), Howard McGill, Kayla Cowart (DeGarmo), and Karah Dewberry; her great grandchildren include Jasmine and Faith Hopper; Leland Brosh; Sophia, Sam and Olivia Hopper; Felix Hopper; Abbigale and Avery Ables; her brother Talmadge Cook(Carolyn); Sister-in-Law, Wendy Cook; Brother-in-law, Joe Cherry; her best friend Phyllis Williams; and her longtime caregiver and niece, Angel Bobinger.
She had many friends and was very active in the American Legion 119, VFW Post 2539 and the Krewe of Gemini. She was a retired LPN and worked with the elderly and homeless. She was a member of Cedar Lake United Methodist Church and Broken Road Ministries. She loved people and the Lord with her whole heart, and she told everyone she met about Jesus. She loved dancing, being with family and friends, and burnt grilled chicken. She always had a great attitude about life and would always tell you that God is in control!
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, with a visitation from 9:30am until the service is held at 11:00am. Flowers should be sent to Cedar Lake United Methodist Church at 12332 Cedar Lake Road, Biloxi, MS 39532.
