Carol Ladner Sandidge, age 82, entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
Carol was a native of DeLisle, Mississippi, and a long-time resident of Gulfport. She graduated from Pass Christian High School, earning valedictorian honors as well as recognition for her exceptional skills on the basketball court.
Carol stood firm in her trust in God despite life’s trials and tribulations. She consistently expressed her Catholic faith and devotion through innumerable acts of kindness and charity. Carol was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. She found great joy in attending daily mass with her sister, Bonnie. Recently, Carol attended St. Thomas Catholic Church with her grandson’s family.
Along with her husband Jim, Carol owned and operated the Circle S Western Store in Gulfport for over 25 years until her retirement in 2004. One of her greatest pleasures was sharing time with Jim, riding horses all over the Smokey mountains.
Many of Carol’s most joyous moments occurred when surrounded by her family. She and Jim hosted many 4th of July family reunions that are recalled with smiles and laughter today. Carol doted on, inexhaustibly loved, and relished in her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as MeMaw.
Carol was the greatest daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and MeMaw. She was loving, kind, strong, compassionate and positive, and possessing a wit that remained with her until the very end.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lovic M. Ladner, and Clara Lizana Ladner. She was the last of six siblings preceding her in death: Jay, Celester, and Leland Ladner, Marlene Necaise and Bonnie Holliman.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James R. Sandidge, Sr. Their love for each other was genuine and boundless. Her children – daughter Beverly S. Dawsey (John), sons James R. Sandidge, Jr. (Rebecca) and Brian E. Sandidge (Carmen); her grandchildren – Travis Dawsey (Robin), Taylor Dawsey (Maddie), Bobbie Jean Price (Jake), Matthew Sandidge, Tyler Sandidge (Lauren), Wyatt Sandidge, Nina Sandidge; her great-grandchildren – Isaac Dawsey, Ethan Dawsey, Cayde Dawsey, Hannah Dawsey, Tucker Sandidge, Avery-Claire Sandidge; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
