Carol B. O'Neill, age 78 of Gulfport, MS was called home by the Lord on May 10, 2012 and was reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Edgar. Carol was a native of Pineville, LA and a resident of Gulfport since 1967.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Joe & Wilma Bradera of Pineville, LA, her husband of 48 years Edgar L. O'Neill, Jr.; her sister, Marie Leckie of Pineville, LA; her niece, Joycelyn Sholes of New Orleans, LA; and a grandson, Matthew Barr of Elkins, WV.
She is survived by her four children; Cindy Barr (Nevil) of Hattiesburg, Michael O'Neill (Cindy) of Biloxi, Patrick O'Neill of Mobile, and Christopher O'Neill of Orlando; four grandchildren, Olivia and Leah O'Neill, and Michael and Millie Barr; and a niece, Janet Opdenhoff of Pineville, LA.
Carol was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church since 1967. She was an avid church worker serving on the altar guild, Episcopal Church Women, and the Interfaith Hospitality Network. She loved playing Bridge, doing yoga, and water aerobics. She loved to travel, especially her many trips to France and a recent trip to Israel. She was a frequent cruiser on Disney Cruise Lines with her sons. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and a member of the Order of Bilikins for over 35 years. She was also a past member of Biloxi Yacht Club. Carol worked for Merchants Bank at the Gulfport downtown branch for 18 years.
Honoring Carol's wishes, there will be a short graveside service at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of life gathering in the parish hall at St Mark's Episcopal Church at 11322 E. Taylor Road (just off Lorraine Road) in Gulfport, on Monday, May 14, 2012.
