Carol Ann Lowe Corbin, age 73, of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at home surrounded by her family.
As a young lady, Carol showed horses competitively as well as performed with the Cypress Gardens Water ski team. She attended Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL. While on a visit to Floridaland, she met her husband Robert. She worked with Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, catching and tagging dolphins. When Carol and Robert moved to the Gulf Coast in 1971, they became partners in Marine Life, L&V Enterprises, Marine Animal Productions, Hawaii Kai, and Porpoise Island. After 12 years of dedicating her life to marine mammal training and entertainment, she and Robert became shrimpers, where Carol taught her boys about the sea, while encouraging her daughter at the softball fields. She also worked at the Grand Casino in Biloxi for several years. After Hurricane Katrina, Carol and Robert became very involved with the First Baptist Church of Long Beach's mission efforts to help devastated areas. She loved watching her grandchildren in their events, skiing, being by the water and watching sunsets
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna ""Jimmie"" Lee Lowe and Edward Mumford Lowe.
Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Henry Corbin; four children, Lee Corbin, Bill (Kelly) Corbin, Steve (Cindy) Corbin, Shawnda (Michelle Borders) Corbin; two step-daughters, Lynn Stagg and Connie (James) Vest; 7 grandkids, 2 great grandkids, four step-grandkids, five step-great grandkids; sisters, Mary Marbut and Ruthie Sullivan, of Macon, GA; several nieces and nephews; life-long friend, Gladys ""Gaga"" Davis of Macon, GA; and her two dear Pomeranians, Little Bit and Sadie.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Long Beach, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Georgia Industrial Children's Home, 4690 N. Mumford Rd, Macon GA 31210.
