Carney A. Brice, Jr, age 79, of Gulfport, passed away on June 20, 2009 in New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carney A. Brice, Sr and Emma R. Brice; and his brother, T.B. Brice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy A. Brice, of Gulfport; his children, Dr. C.A. """"Buddy"""" Brice, III and his wife, Jaye, and Janet Brice McMurphy, and her husband, Tim, all of Biloxi; and two grandsons, Brice McMurphy and Austin McMurphy, both of Biloxi.
Mr. Brice received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University and was an avid LSU fan where he was a season ticket holder for over 40 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. He retired after 25 years from Civil Service at Keesler AFB where he wrote training manuals for flight trainers. He was the former owner of the Southwind Motel. He attended Fernwood Baptist Church in Biloxi.
Carney was an excellent woodworking craftsman; personally built a wooden hull 54' boat named """"Easy Ed""""; and successfully launched his boating dream after three years of construction to enjoy the waters of the Gulf and the speckled trout fishing at the Chandelieur Islands.
He dearly loved his family, children, and grandchildren, and was affectionately known as 'PawPaw' at the baseball field where he watched his grandsons play their favorite sport.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 1:15 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi, where family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
