Perkinston, MS

Carlos Robert “Bob” Meador Jr., 80 of Perkinston, MS passed away peacefully at his residence on December 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on December 14, 1943 in Gulfport, MS to the late Carlos Robert Meador Sr & Mary Gottlich Meador. His preceded in death by his parents; step son, Steven Tillman; and a niece, Melissa Byrd.

Bob went to High School in Gulfport. After, high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served Honorably for 8 years. After serving in the Army, Bob settled back on the Gulf Coast, and started working at Ingalls Ship Yard as a welder. Later, Bob started working at Trinity Ship Yard and worked there for over 20 years and retired. Bob still wouldn’t stop working and started working at the Gulf Island National Seashore Park for nearly 12 years. 

Besides working, Bob loved being in the outdoors, going hunting, fishing, and camping. Bob had a can-do attitude and was always working on projects around the house. You could never keep Bob indoors, he always loved being outside working in the yard. Bob was an avid Nascar and baseball fan. He even was a great cook and his gumbo was always the best. In his quiet moments, Bob loved sitting and reading novels. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. His love and memories live on in all of us.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Joann Meador; children, Carlos “Robert” (Dena) Meador II, and Kimberly (Brian) Younger; step children, Joseph (Krystal) Allen, Elizabeth “Liz” (Lance) Neumaster, and Jessica Lunanetro (Thomas Raimondi); brother, George Holliman Sr; sisters, Louise (Tony) Guerin, Mary (Richard Sr.) Scott, and Lena (Stanley) Byrd. Bob also leaves behind to cherish in his memory 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport (11280 Three Rivers Road). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport (11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport). Graveside Services with Military Honors will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
