Carla Beasley Drummond, age 45 of Gulfport, passed away on May 1, 2013. She was born on November 9, 1967 in Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles O. Beasley; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Calvin O. Beasley and Mr. and Mrs. Paul K. Wright.
She is survived by her mother, Paula W. Beasley; her sisters, Reja B. Klug (Russ) and Allison Beasley; her brother, Charlie Beasley (Audrey); her nieces, Kerianne Klug and Sara Ethan Beasley; and her nephews, Ryan Klug, Charlie Beasley, Jr., Griffin Beasley, and Baker Beasley. Carla was loved by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Carla was a graduate of Meridian High School and attended college at Mississippi State University, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Development and a graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
Carla was a Senior Counselor at the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in Gulfport, where she worked hard since 1998 to serve people with disabilities. She was a certified rehab counselor and a member of the Rehabilitation Association of Mississippi. Carla was part of the LEADRS Class of 2007 and received the MDRS Leadership Award that same year. She also served on the regional training team for the agency, where this past January they were awarded the agency's Vision Award.
Carla was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, Gulf Coast Blessings, South Mississippi Methodist Cursillo, and the Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport. She was also an avid Mississippi State bulldog fan.
Carla loved God, her family, and lived to serve others. She was a sweet, inspirational, and kind soul who was always smiling. She lived a beautiful, spiritual life with strength and determination and was a true blessing to so many lives. Carla loved spending time with her family and enjoyed travel, particularly to the beach or the mountains. She treasured being active and was passionate about many types of music. She loved her miniature dachshunds Streudel and Kahlan.
Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport on Friday, May 3, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport or Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport Attention: Harrison County Family Court Shelter Fund. Tributes may be offered to the family at www.riemannfamily.com.
