Carl W. Adams, age 62 of Gulfport, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde & Lucille Adams; his brothers, Paul & L.C. Brewer; and his sister Carolyn Payne.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Thirrey Adams; his daughter, Sarah Adams; his siblings, Elizabeth Hoskins, Ronnie Brewer (Cathy), Aubrey Brewer (Patsy), Dwight Brewer (Louise), Robert Brewer (Lois Ann), Ray Brewer (Shelia), and Gracie Beech (Jimmy); and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Carl attended Harrison Central High School, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a self-employed real estate developer. Carl enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and boating, spending time with his wife and daughter, creating useful but crazy projects, and cutting grass.
Carl Adams was the most kind-hearted man you would ever meet. He was always willing to help anyone in need he could. Whether it was buying someone food, or extending his endless and impressive knowledge and experience on just about anything and everything you could think of. His family often referred to him as the “jack of all trades.” You could always find him tinkering on something, he never had idle hands. He would engineer and rig useful tools and equipment, and it may look funny, but it always worked. If you knew Carl you knew he had a work ethic that was unmatched, as he was the hardest working man you will ever come across. Aside from his big brain, he had the biggest heart. You saw it the most when it came to his ability to be an adoring, devoted father and husband to his daughter Sarah and wife Thirrey. His goal was to make sure his family was always taken care of. His daughter wanted to share a couple of her favorite memories. One of their favorite pastimes was working on her truck together, she thought he was the smartest man alive during those moments. She has so many childhood memories she adores. For examples, when they would catch butterflies in the fields together, or when she would fall asleep in his lap while they rode around on his tractor. That’s when she felt all of his love wrap around her. Carl made sure he showed her how to drive a stick shift before he parted this earth. He instilled in her strength, kindness, and work ethic through the moments they shared. “Edd,” as he was lovingly referred to by his close friends, will be dearly missed by all who got the privilege to know him.
Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, September 15, 2023 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. A funeral service will be at 11:00am. Interment is in Finley Cemetery.
