Long Beach

Capt. Richard D Beeson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Long Beach, Mississippi, where he was born on July 7, 1947. 

A proud veteran, Capt. Beeson served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam era. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duties and was evident throughout his professional career in the oil industry. He was employed at the Mark Oil Company in Gulfport, MS, Tenneco Oil Co in Houston, TX, and eventually became the owner of Cochran Oil Company in Atmore, AL. 

Capt. Beeson graduated from Long Beach High School in the class of 1965, followed by earning a degree from USM in Hattiesburg, MS, in 1969. 

Outside of his professional achievements, Capt. Beeson enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. His passions included boating, fishing, golfing, and traveling across the United States.

Capt. Beeson is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Marcia Kirk Beeson, and their cherished children: Bennie Edward Beeson and Richard Austin (Michele) Beeson. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Carole Beeson Savage, Sue Beeson (George) Dewey, and Elizabeth Beeson (Herold) Pique, as well as his loving grandchildren: Lauren Nicole (Corey) Green, Taylor Elizabeth Beeson, Marin Riley Beeson, Richard Myles Beeson, Zachary Dean Beeson, and Beau Grant Beeson. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who adored him.

Capt. Beeson was preceded in death by his father, Bennie E Beeson, Sr., his mother, Ida Mae Beeson, and his brother, Bennie E Beeson, Jr. 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to their family, friends, and Rick's 1965 classmates for the prayers, support, and loving wishes during this challenging time. They also extend their appreciation to the staff at Vital Caring Hospice, particularly his nurse Marcellus and aide Jennifer, for their exceptional care and unwavering support.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Children Hospital or St. Jude's Children Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 9 am Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in Biloxi National Cemetery.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 10 am - 12 pm at the First Methodist Church Christian Life Center, Long Beach.
