Capt. Garry Gilleland, age 57, of Saucier, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Saucier.
Capt. Gilleland was a United States Army Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal during Vietnam War. He was a Merchant Marine Officer and Captain of a 500 ton vessel. He was also a firefighter officer and a gourmet chef.
Capt. Gilleland was preceded in death by his father, James Wallace Gilleland, and his mother, Nettie Ruth Gullett.
He is survived by his son, Garrett Wallace Gilleland and his wife Angela Marie of Kinder, LA; brother Joe Gilleland of Gulfport; grandchildren, Sael Asher Gilleland and Caillou Ross Gilleland both of Kinder, LA; and his best friend, Mike Martin and his son Zach Martin of Gulfport.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 11:00 AM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
